Our trip: November – December

Early summer on the dry west coast

It's one of the best times to be in Mauritius, and the west coast around the villa is the driest and sunniest part of the island.

  • ☀️ 28–30 °C by day, 21–23 °C at night; sea 25–27 °C, calm lagoons.
  • 🌅 Sunrise around 5:30, sunset around 18:45 (3 hours ahead of Geneva).
  • 🌧️ Little rain on the west coast; short showers on the central plateau, more in late December.
  • 🐟 Peak season for big-game fishing; calm seas for dolphins, snorkelling and the east-coast beaches.
  • 🍈 Lychee season (from late November) and the first mangoes; roadside stalls everywhere.
  • 🪔 Divali on Sunday 8 November 2026: houses and temples lit with oil lamps.
  • 🌀 The cyclone season starts, but cyclones are rare before January.
  • 🐋 No whales (July–October) and lighter winds for kitesurfing in December.
