A postcard south-coast beach lined with filao trees and a lagoon of unreal colours, wild and almost empty, with strong currents.

Pomponette is one of the most photogenic beaches of the south: a long curve of sand, tall filaos and a shallow lagoon in every shade of turquoise. It feels untouched, with only a few fishermen and the odd family picnic.

The currents can be very strong here: paddle at the edge, and swim at Riambel, 5 minutes east.

  • One of the prettiest wild beaches
  • Filao shade
  • Almost empty
