Bel Ombre is the most protected part of the south coast: a reef shelters a calm lagoon, and the beach is backed by green hills and the old sugar estate. The public beach near the Îlot Sancho viewpoint is quiet on weekdays and has some shade.

Combine it with the ChΓ’teau de Bel Ombre, the Frederica reserve or a drive along the south coast.
