La Preneuse beach & Martello Tower
The small village beach at the end of the road, with fishing boats, the old Martello Tower and the best sunset view of Le Morne.
La Preneuse is the villa's local beach: a strip of sand shaded by filao trees, with pirogues pulled up on the shore and the 1830s Martello Tower standing guard. It isn't a postcard swimming beach (there's some seagrass, coral rubble and a shallow lagoon), but it's lovely for a paddle, a picnic and above all the sunset, when Le Morne Brabant turns into a silhouette across the bay.
Local families come at weekends, with music and food. Early in the morning you can watch the fishermen and the boats leaving for dolphin trips.

Getting there

- 🚕 Taxi from the villa: about Rs 350–500 one way per car (agree the price first; a return trip with waiting time is often negotiable).
- 🚶 On foot: a few minutes' walk from the villa.
Tips
- 💡 Wear water shoes: the lagoon floor has coral rubble and the odd sea urchin.
- 💡 Bring a drink and watch the sunset from the tower's side of the beach.
