Trou aux Cerfs is a perfectly round crater, 300 m wide and 80 m deep, filled with forest and a small lake, right in the town of Curepipe. A road and a path circle the rim, with views of the Trois Mamelles, the Rempart, Le Pouce and, on a clear day, the sea on both sides of the island.
A short, easy stop (30–60 minutes), best combined with Curepipe's botanic garden or the Tamarind Falls.
