Dholl puri is Mauritius's favourite street food, and Dewa & Sons in Rose Hill is its temple. Two flatbreads filled with ground yellow split peas, wrapped around butter-bean curry, tomato rougaille and chilli and coriander chutneys, cost about Rs 25.

Arrive before noon: they sell out.
