Plateau Remousse viewpoint
A short forest hike from the Black River entrance, over a bridge across the river, to a viewpoint looking up the gorges.
One of the easiest ways into the gorges from the villa side: from the visitor centre, a forest path crosses the Black River on a footbridge and climbs gently to the Plateau Remousse viewpoint, with the gorge walls, waterfalls in the distance and the Black River Peak above.
About 45 minutes each way: a nice early-morning or late-afternoon outing.

What to expect on this hike
- 📍 Where it starts
- At the Black River visitor centre, the park's west entrance, 15 minutes from the villa: follow the signs from Grande Rivière Noire village up the valley road to the car park (free, with toilets and a map board).
- 🧭 The route
- A gentle forest path, a footbridge over the Black River, then a gradual climb to the viewpoint platform. Back the same way.

- 🚕 Taxi from the villa: about Rs 350–500 one way per car (agree the price first; a return trip with waiting time is often negotiable).
- 🚲 Bike: close enough to cycle along the coast road (take care with traffic).
