Trochetia Trail (Gorges viewpoint)
A short, easy trail from the Gorges viewpoint through guava forest to a river crossing and a waterfall view.
Named after the Trochetia, the national flower of Mauritius (the red boucle d'oreille), this short trail starts next to the Gorges viewpoint on the Plaine Champagne road. It crosses guava and native forest to a river and a view of a waterfall.
About 45 minutes: a perfect leg-stretch on the scenic drive across the plateau.

What to expect on this hike

- On the Plaine Champagne road, next to the Gorges viewpoint car park (the trail starts on the right side of the viewpoint).

- A flat path through guava thickets and forest to a river crossing, with a view of a waterfall. Back the same way, or continue on the Gollum trail (longer).
