Le Morne heritage walk (guided)
A guided walk around the foot of Le Morne Brabant with the Le Morne Heritage Trust Fund: the story of the maroons, the Valley of the Bones and the Slave Route monument.
Le Morne Brabant is a UNESCO World Heritage site because it was a refuge for runaway slaves (maroons) in the 18th and early 19th centuries. The Le Morne Heritage Trust Fund, based on the Royal Road in Le Morne village, organises guided walks around the foot of the mountain, telling the history of the maroons, the 1835 abolition and the oral traditions of the place.
The walk takes 2β3 hours on easy paths, passes the Valley of the Bones memorial trail and ends at the International Slave Route Monument. Book a day or two ahead.
