La Vanille, near Rivière des Anguilles, started as a crocodile farm and is now one of the best places to see Aldabra giant tortoises, including very old ones and babies. You walk among the tortoises, see Nile crocodiles being fed, and visit a fascinating insect collection of 23,000 specimens.
